Printing
There are two ways to print in Manifold:
- Print using a Layout -
When a Layout
is open and has the focus we can choose File - Print to print the layout.
Ctrl-P is a shortcut
for printing in layouts. See the Layouts topic for details on creating
layouts and working with them.
- Print using a Print Preview
- When an open visual window has the focus, the File - Print Preview command
creates a virtual layout with a single frame in it that contains the
component. We can then choose File - Print to print. The
virtual layout used in a print preview disappears when we close the
print preview. If we make changes to that virtual layout
and want to save it as a real Layout, that is easy to do by choosing
Edit - Save as Layout.

Layout Properties - Editing properties which appear in the
mfd_meta table for a layout changes the content of that layout. We
can exploit that effect to create standardized layouts which are then
re-cycled for different content.
